Honor, Loyalty and Integrity – the TeTuna motto is put to the test this week. It is day 33 and the scheming, shuffling, and justifications begin.
Redemption Island – Duel – Ozzy vs. Edna – The challenge is to complete a slide puzzle to get a hatchet out, then cut a rope which will release bags holding blocks. Use the blocks to solve a cube puzzle lining up the cubes with no matching colors on each side. Reverse Rubics stick is our impression. Ozzy is in the lead getting to the cube puzzle. Edna is getting direction and help from her whole team and thinks she has it – Jeff comes over but “No” it wasn’t right, Ozzy calls for a check and “Yes”. Ozzy wins.
Back at camp it is Brandon talking to Albert getting reassurance that it is him, Albert and Coach to final three. Sophie is realizing the biggest threat in the game is Ozzy as all jury members go through “Ozzy’s Pleasure Dome” before leaving the island. Sophie then approaches Coach to vote out Brandon. Coach and Brandon have words with Coach calling Brandon “Russel like” and a “bully”. Brandon calms him down and they move on (or so we think).
Immunity Challenge – Using a rope, climb a wall collecting 5 bags worth of puzzle pieces. Once all bags are retrieved open the bags and pair the pieces. The three remaining pieces are a code, race back up the wall, enter the code and a flag is released. First to release their flag wins! Close race between Coach and Brandon but Brandon WINS! Reward with this challenge is lunch at camp of pizza, garlic bread and soda. Brandon chooses Rick to share it with him.
Back at camp the shuffling begins again. Brandon decides to give Albert his immunity with the belief that Coach will hold true to Honor, Loyalty, and Integrity and not write his name down.
Tribal Council – before Jeff can even say hello, Brandon stands and gives his necklace to Albert because they have “that bond”. When Jeff calls out Albert (and then Rick does too) to say if you have that bond shouldn’t you give back the necklace to Brandon to show him your support? Albert’s only response “if he needed it I would”. Well he did. Brandon is sent to Redemption Island.
Final duel comes at the finale show which is Sunday. We’ll do a quick show after the finale show and reunion show.
Who do you think is going to win?
Coach or Sophia….I’d be thrilled if Coach won but Sophia’s stock seems to be climbing lately and Coach’s stock seems to be stagnant. Those are the only two that I think are worthy of being the winner. Ozzy, despite his non existent social game I guess is worthy of being a winner based on his accomplishments in challenges but the person who muscles their way to the top seldom wins Survivor. Hell, his own former tribe doesn’t even want him to win.
Unless he somehow survives Redemtion Island, Brandon Hanz needs to be in Survivor’s Hall of Shame for giving up his immunity necklace.
I was thinking that what Brandon did is a perfect example of taking your eye off the prize. What I mean is that before the game starts if you asked most players what is your goal (the prize), they would say to win. Later after you meet people, make survivor friends (not the same as real friends), and you tie some sense of morality to what you’re doing, the prize gets a little fuzzy and hard to see. Sophie and Coach have had clear vision from the beginning and have never taken their eyes off the prize.
After finally listening to the weekday show, I agree whole heartedly with what Mike said. I think Coach has emphasized loyalty, honor and integrity so much that it comes across as a cheesy cliche. Overall, he has been very loyal to the original five that he promised would make it to the final 5. I’m sure Coach was on the fence several times about whether or not his loyalties need to be adjusted. Especially regarding Albert and Brandon. As for integrity, I think he has done a pretty good job of not being cocky, overly devious, or smug when it came to voting people out. I think he did what he could to build genuine relationships and broke them in such a way that he wouldn’t be seen as a evil villain. It was just part of the game. Honor wise, I don’t know.
Coach is his own worst enemy at this point. If he goes bat shit Dragon Slayer in front of the jury, he’s a goner. But I think if he sets it up so that the other two in the final three have to give him kudos for being loyal ( like Albert and Sophia ) It will help his case when it comes to his preaching about loyalty. When it comes to getting someone like Brandon or Edna’s vote, I think Coach needs to show remorse for making them feel as though they were just being strung along especially when talking about Edna. When talking about Brandon, Coach needs to point out that Brandon wasn’t truly there for the money or the title. Brandon was there to grow up and find himself and by befriending him Coach helped him tremendously towards reaching that goal. If Coach finds himself up against Ozzy in the final three, things good get interesting. Ozzy has no social game, he realized that and put himself on RI where he can use his strengths to his advantage. I think for Ozzy it was the best thing he could have done. One by one he picked people off sending them to the jury. He is the last person the player saw and talked to before really being taken out of the game. He fed them, chatted with them and possibly might have gotten back in good graces with some of them because he got to speak to them one on one in a more relaxed setting. I think Ozzy is probably a pretty cool guy in real life. But when he has to deal with several people each with their own idea on how things should unfold he gets frustrated with the juggling act and he allows himself to become frazzled and off kilter. He made the mistake of showing the others which button to push . Once they get him off kilter, he throws a tantrum and they just let him put his foot in his own mouth. I think Ozzy would have a good chance of beating Coach if he did in fact resurrect some relationships while at RI. I think Dawn will vote with whatever the status quo seems to be at the moment. Whitney will make them pick a number between 1 and 3. Rick will vote for whoever looks the best wearing his hat. Lighting will strike the ground near the tribal council area and Brandon will claim it was the will of God that he votes with whoever was closest to getting electrocuted. Cochran will vote for whoever can solve a Rubiks cube the fastest. Jim will vote for the person that can smoke the most amount of weed within a certain amount of time. Edna will vote for the one that scrounges up the nicest batch of flowers and makes the most sincere apology. Keith will do enee meenee mighty mo because thats all his brain can handle.
well put Dan!
